I've been wanting to put together an idea for a Mighty No. 9 cosplay since making a Megaman outfit for my youngest, Maverick for PAX AUS 2013. Next year I want to see him level up with this.
Now, mind you.. this is a throw together idea. I like to do these just to get the idea of what I can do and push past that with making my own things like boot covers, helmet and even the main body armor purely from foam. There are so many tutorials on foam builds that it should be easy to put together what I want.
Helmet: a mix of a plain skateboard helmet, headphones (expensive though. Might get cheap ones) and snowboarding googles. I might change up the googles for a visor made from foam like Platinum Fungi has done over on his cosplay prop: Beck's helmet! *salute for the idea*
As for the arms and leg coverings I found these Bionic Leggings on Etsy by Mitmunk. They're roughly $84 and I'd need two pairs. Maybe an order from Fabric4U or Spoonflower might be needed instead. I'd only need two metres of stretchy spandex/nylon type fabric to make leggings and arm covers. The Bionic Leggings are fantastic though!
The armor shown is just Motocross kids armor that I found through Ebay but it's something similar that I'd want. Easily to fasten armor made from foam though. The Thor armor guide on The RPF by Banana Hammock might be handy.
The boots are snowboots but I'd make build them up with foam covers or even a mix of resin/plastic casting and that have been painted to match the colours on Beck. I really want to go with a more smooth finish on the costume compared to the Megaman outfit I made.
The gloves are motocross gloves from FOX but I'd have to remove the logos (as I did in the above picture) and recolour them.
All in all it should be easy to make. I have a year until PAX AUS 2014! Go team 'last minute cosplay despite having a year to do it'!
